Lackey tried to find a silver lining after his shelling tonight at the hands of the Blue Jays.

In his first two at-bats with the Red Sox, Adrian Gonzalez is 2-2 with 3 RBI. If Theo isn’t on the phone with Gonzo’s agent right now hammering out that extension he should be fired. Get it done Theo, get it done!

In other news, Jon Lester’s career April struggles continue. Ugh!

Shut Up Showalter!

In an interview for the April edition of Men’s Journal, Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter lashed out at Theo Epstein for having the ability to spend large amounts of money on free agents because of the large Boston market.

“I’d like to see how smart Theo Epstein is with the Tampa Bay payroll,” Showalter told Men’s Journal.”You got Carl Crawford ’cause you paid more than anyone else, and that’s what makes you smarter? That’s why I like whipping their butt. It’s great, knowing those guys with the $205 million payroll are saying, ‘How the hell are they beating us?’ “

Is Showalter serious with this crap? I think he needs to take Jim Calhoun’s best advice and SHUT UP!

Theo is not smarter because he paid more than anyone else for Carl Crawford. Theo is smarter because he drafts better than anyone in the business. Theo is the guy who drafted Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Jon Papelbon, Clay Buchholz and the package of three guys whom the Sox traded for Adrian Gonzalez. Don’t be bitter because you are the coach of the laughing stock of baseball. I understand you are trying to generate interest in the Orioles again Buck, but don’t attack Theo to accomplish it. The Orioles suck and will continue to suck. Get over it.
