Is Papelbon worried about being replaced?

You bet your ass he’s not. Gorden Edes of ESPN Boston caught up with Papelbon today down in Fort Meyers. When asked about the likelihood of fans calling for a change at closer once Papelbon blows a save, he responded with this.

“There will be, for sure. I understand that. It doesn’t bother me. I don’t worry about those things. I don’t know why. It’s not that I don’t care. I guess I’m just confident enough in my own ability. I can go get the job done in Boston with a great group of guys, or in Japan if I have to. I’m just that way.’’

I don’t know about you but this is the exact mentality I wan’t my closer to  have. Papelbon is absolutely nuts and doesn’t care what anybody else says. That is the type of mindset a good closer has and it is the reason why is am fully confident Papelbon will regain his elite form this season. The only closer crazier than Pap is Brian Wilson, of course, but anyone crazier than Wilson would have to be labeled clinically insane.

Honestly though, how can you hate a guy who does the irish jig on the field, wasted, in his compression shorts?
